I encourage your questions..... : )
"I had a bad
experience with an astrologer last year. What are some
red flags I could watch out for in the future?" |
First of all, though every person who acts as a
personal consultant of any kind should have
learned through formal training and professional experience how
delicate a matter this can be, many have not. Stepping into the
shoes of mentor/guide/counselor to someone else entails a huge
responsibility. (As a client, it's important to realize that
even those counselors who are mindful of this aren't always
perfect.) From reading your entire story however, it seems that
you were in the hands of someone who was not interested in
conducting himself in a professional manner or creating a
value-for-value exchange with you.
Some red flags from your story, and other red flags to watch
out for in general:
Look for a professional tone in the counselor's website and
correspondence.
Look for a clear and standardized rate schedule.
A counselor who will take your money knowing in advance
your one central question, and then not answer it in an
hour's time is not one to give more money to. (Some questions
cannot be answered by an astrologer, but when an unanswerable
question is known in advance, you must be told this in
advance.)
A counselor who claims he/she has the power to change your
life/fate/bring a lost love to you is suspect.
Any counselor who claims you are "cursed" and must pay the
counselor to remove the curse is suspect.
A counselor's aim should always be to empower you. A
counselor can "be there" for you during difficult times
without encouraging dependency.
A counseling professional should not discourse at length
about his sex life.
***Use your intuition. If something feels wrong, it probably
is. Intuition is a skill that we are all born but that
greatly improves with practice.
Since we counselors are human, we will inevitably make some
mistakes and won't connect perfectly with every single client.
If a client wants to wait for a perfect counselor he/she will
wait in vain, since just being incarnate here means any given
person is imperfect. Still, you have a right to expect a
counselor who conducts himself/herself honorably and
professionally and gives his/her best to you during your
session.
*BTW, the astrologer described by the questioner above was
NOT a Magi Astrologer.

Magi Days Third Quarter 2007 |
 |
|
Using the principles of four-dimensional Magi
Astrology, these are noteworthy days- either positive or negative.
Be aware that these are general predictions, and may be improved by,
or worsened by, your personal transits.
The single simplest
and most powerful way anyone can use astrology is to avoid
universally bad days for new initiatives. |
|
|
July 4-6 Fairly good days with the Sun aspected by
Chiron or Jupiter or both.
July 11 Could be good for initiating certain types of
new business, or for lasting associations
July 12- 22 The Saturn-Jupiter midpoint square Earth
in helio, followed by Saturn quincunx Earth, makes these
days to avoid for any important new beginnings
July 31- Aug. 2- Jupiter trine Sun makes these
generally favorable days for new initiatives
Aug. 10- 13 The Saturn-Chiron midpoint square Sun or
Earth makes these very poor days for starting anything
new
Aug. 17- 18 While good for both passionate and
money-making new ventures, anything started now could
ultimately become a burden
Aug. 19- 23 Saturn is conjunct Sun, opposite Earth,
and/or parallel Sun. Definitely not the days for new
beginnings.
Sept. 11- 12 Could be good days for business
initiatives if your own transits agree
Sept. 17- 25 Yikes! Saturn/Jupiter or Saturn quincunx
Earth, and/or Saturn/Chiron parallel then contraparallel
Sun... don't start anything or meet anyone new... and...
Sept. 21 begins a universal Saturn/Chiron
contraparallel applying through Oct. 15. This will not
be a good time for any new beginnings so avoid or
postpone these when you can. More on this in next
quarter's StarGazer.

Predictions for each Zodiac Sign for July - September 2007 |
 |
| |
| |
|
|
|
Birthdate ranges shown may vary by a day or so either way. Be aware that
these are general predictions, and that a detailed analysis of your
personal transits and progressions will always show much more pinpoint
accuracy. As in all predictive columns, this is written based on the
Solar House system. If you know your Ascendant (Rising Sign) read that
section as well as your birth sign. I attempt to write these predictions
for all degrees of each sign, however, your own Sun and Ascendant may be
anything from 0°-30° of a sign. If these predictions seem way off, your
Sun or Ascendant may be at the extreme beginning or end of your sign. In
that case, check out the predictions for the sign immediately before or
after yours and you may find a closer match. (If you are a Pisces, check
out Aquarius and Aries, for example.)

Aries- Mar 21- Apr 20:
An early focus on domestic matters will shift to a
need to feel yourself in the limelight for a good part
of this quarter. Then, some hard work and dedication
will be called for to wrap up the quarter. By all means
let yourself have some fun and give vent to the creative
urges coursing through you. Even factoring in plenty of
time for lighthearted amusements, you will still be
working hard to keep the cash flow coming in. Financial
partnerships could continue to be highly profitable as
long as you find ways in advance to sidestep potential
disputes. Whether you are single or in a committed
relationship, romance is highlighted.
Taurus- Apr 21- May 21: Hearth
and home will matter a great deal to you throughout the
quarter. Expect overall positive experiences there,
though you will also have some substantial domestic
responsibilities. By later in the quarter, you'll be
ready to let down your hair and have some fun. Long-term
relationships should offer considerable shelter and
peace. Avoid giving the appearance of having a chip on
your shoulder out in the world- you could be a bit too
contentious now. Try as you might, work and career
matters may be hard to solidify or get a fix on- by next
quarter, expect this to improve.
Gemini- May 22- Jun 21: Money
matters are quite a focus for you as we kick off the
third quarter. Later, you enter an exceptionally
communicative phase, even for you. For the most part,
you'll know just what sweet words to say, but you could
also pop out with things better left unsaid. Your work
ethic is strong, and you are very oriented toward
service, loyalty, and doing your best. At some point
depending on your chart, you will be entering a phase of
change in your career- exciting at times, and possibly
unsettling at other times.
Use this time of change when it starts to its fullest to
move your career in desirable directions. By fall,
you'll be thinking of nesting in with loved ones.
Cancer- Jun 22- Jul 23: You
are drawn to innovative ways of looking at the world and
to travel and teachers who can open up new vistas for
you- the more novel and outside your previous
experiences, the better. Friendships may be
confrontational now- be patient with proven friends as
things will return to a more peaceful way of being with
a little time. By mid-quarter, finances will occupy much
of your attention. Expect good luck in general, though
an economic pinch or two could occur. Domestic matters
may be baffling in some way- seek the truth within
yourself and from others. If you are single, a very
high-quality new person could enter your life. Long-term
relationships should be in a loving phase.
Leo- Jul 24- Aug 23:
Strive for clarity in all communications now. You are
very visible to others now and for the most part, your
sterling character and exceptional charm are what is
seen. Continue to avoid any appearance of pomposity or a
hunger for control. You are pouring much energy into
your career, and could conceivably give so much that you
feel somewhat used. Strike a balance and avoid playing
the martyr. Committed relationships should find romance
revived, single Leos might find dates that create too
drama for your taste. A partner's finances could be all
over the map for a while, though sudden windfalls are
also a possibility.
Virgo- Aug 24- Sep 23: At
some point this quarter, you will enter a month-long
phase of the desire for quiet and some space for
yourself. Whatever kind of retreat time you are able to
orchestrate will be very soothing and
very important to your peace of mind. Travel may
not be the best idea, as disruptions or disputes could
be possible. This is also a time to follow all the rules
of the road and elsewhere to avoid a confrontation with
authority. New financial arrangements may not be all
they appear to be, so don't involve yourself with
anything that isn't solid gold. Meeting a potential
future mate is possible for single Virgos. Settled
Virgos are probably experiencing significant changes in
their relationships and around the house.
Libra- Sep 24- Oct 23:
This is a time when affiliations in the world mean
much to you. Friendships, group associations and working
toward the betterment of others are all spotlighted. By
late in the quarter, you'll be ready for some rest and
time off. Cash flow should be strong, though you could
find that despite your generosity, someone feels like
they deserve more from you. Your home is important to
you and you should feel safe and loved. A highly
magnetic aura surrounds you now, and could find yourself
attracting others without effort. Single Librans will
certainly be making romantic plans, and may find them
fulfilled. Do your best to curb restlessness and be sure
to fulfill your daily responsibilities.
Scorpio- Oct 24- Nov 22: Career
will likely be your major focus for much of the quarter.
Expect major rewards to come your way, but don't expect
these rewards to come without significant effort. A
genial and very likeable aura continues to surround you
and you are more approachable than usual. Eating
carefully can help moderate possible weight gain as
Jupiter transits your first house for some time.
Long-term relationships need lots of activity to channel
disputatious energy, and be sure to sidestep pointless
wrangling. Overall, though, the domestic scene should be
peaceful- make a plan to get something done there.
Single Scorps may meet unusual dates.
Sagittarius- Nov 23- Dec 22:
Learning and travel can be highly rewarding,
though may not be as easy to implement as you would
like. Legal matters may end favorably, though not
without a hitch or two. Try to work smart, not just
furiously and be sure to get some quiet time with
familiar friends as an antidote. New friends who cross
your path could be highly intriguing but may not make
the grade over time. On a basic level, the way you live
is in a process of change. Be proactive with this and
weed out the old both internally and externally. By all
means don't try to cling to anything outmoded.
Capricorn- Dec 23- Jan 20:
Financial matters are highlighted, particularly
financial partnerships and common assets. General
agreement and profitability is likely, though your
partner may hold more control than you might like. In
your career, you must keep everything crystal clear and
avoid any gray areas or self-delusion. New friends have
an excellent chance of being "keepers." Single Caps will
likely stay very busy in the social whirl, though may
encounter overly assertive types. Someone met while
dating could become a business associate. Deep
transformations continue within your subconscious mind.
Aquarius- Jan 21- Feb 19:
Serious relationships are a major focus for
much of the quarter, whether you have one, want one, or
are avoiding one. Overall this part of your life should
be favorable, but the whole topic could feel burdensome
at times. New philosophies should be adopted slowly if
at all now as you could easily find them to be
disappointing in the near future. Your career is in a
lucky phase and your dedication inspires others. Even
so, cash flow could be uneven, though a wonderful
windfall is just as likely as an unexpected loss. If
missiles are flying at home, duck, and don't lob any
yourself.
Pisces- Feb 20- Mar 20:
Though the quarter may start out playfully, your focus
changes to hard work at some point and little will
escape your thorough approach. Thankfully, you'll find
ways to make even the daily grind pleasurable and
satisfying for much of the quarter. Assert yourself
conversationally with care as you could seem overly
argumentative. Don't sign on to any new financial
partnerships now as you are unlikely to have the full
story. You want to be uniquely yourself and to
experiment with new looks regardless of the opinions of
others. Quiet time alone will allow your creativity the
greatest room to manifest itself.

The Freedom in Being Wrong
How much time and energy
do we spend trying to BE RIGHT? How much stress does
needing to BE RIGHT cause and how many arguments (how
many wars)? What if we were comfortable being wrong?
Ahhh... the human desire
to BE RIGHT. We all want to BE RIGHT. What a wonderful
feeling..... Righteous. Certain. Powerful.
Unfortunately, the pursuit of BEING RIGHT can have a
number of negative consequences:
BEING RIGHT allows us to
feel righteous. Righteousness is divisive, judgmental,
hierarchal, and the exact opposite of compassion.
BEING RIGHT can drive a
wedge in relationships- especially if both parties need
to BE RIGHT. Endless arguments are the result. Dr. Toni
Grant once said, "You can be right, or you can be
loved."
BEING RIGHT locks us in to
our existing viewpoint and shuts out new awareness and
insights. We are stuck and can't learn anything and
therefore can't evolve. We can't stand it that anyone
else could BE RIGHT and that we could BE WRONG. Our mind
is closed.
BEING RIGHT can do great
harm to relationships and it can do great harm to
nations.
So why do we so avoid
being wrong? This is a society that wants to BE RIGHT
and shames anyone who is in the wrong. Whether the
shaming originates from parents, siblings, schoolmates,
etc. there is often an open season on anyone in the
wrong. We learn early to BE RIGHT- to defend our
position no matter what, even if we have to lie.
This is all a little
ironic considering that we are all imperfect and we all
make mistakes every day. It is draining and
anxiety-producing to spend our time pretending to
ourselves and others that we are ALWAYS RIGHT.
Still, it takes practice
to learn to be comfortable being wrong. There's a
habitual resistance to being wrong that is hard to
avoid. Often there can actually be a sinking feeling of
impending shame when we fear we're wrong.
However, we can learn to
move past this and just allow the being wrong when it
happens. Of course, we also need to be interacting with
people who won't try to shame us when we're wrong. And
the freedom that comes when we can just embrace our
humanity and be wrong is amazing-- whew! No more
defending. No more pointless un-resolvable arguments. No
more fear of being found out.
We can also learn to let
others be wrong. Why in the world would we expect other
people to never be wrong, never make mistakes?
Imagine a world where I
can be wrong, you can be wrong, anyone can be wrong-
without shame. A world where voters could be wrong,
leaders could be wrong, and endless misery isn't
perpetuated in a futile attempt to BE RIGHT.
What would it be like if
we could all admit our mistakes and actually
re-calculate our assessments and actions? What would it
be like if the need to BE RIGHT didn't doom so many
futures? What would it be like if we could just
embrace each other in all our humanity and simply strive
to do our best?
